IFA Check Digit Generator for Basic UDI

The basic UDI (BUDI) is the main key for grouping those products of a manufacturer that have the same properties. Manufacturers generate the basic UDI from the following four substring elements, which are described in detail in chapter 3.5. of Specification UDI Use of the IFA Coding System for MD:

  • Issuing Agency Code (IAC)
  • Manufacturer Code / Company Identification Number (CIN)
  • Device Group Code
  • 2-digit Check Digit

Your 5-digit CIN, also known as IFA Supplier Number, is available by requesting an address list on Request for EAD, product and address data.

To generate the 2-digit Check Digit for the basic UDI, please fill in the respective fields and click on the button to create BUDI. The 2-digit IAC PP is automatically prefixed. Please use the BUDI without spaces.

Please enter the 5-digit IFA Supplier Number.
Please enter a Device Group Code to a maximum of 16 digits (0-9, A-Z or „.“).
